Charlie Goodyear worked for 13 years as a reporter, covering some of the biggest political, legal and crime stories in the Bay Area for The San Francisco Chronicle and other Northern California newspapers. During a 10-year career with the Chronicle, Mr. Goodyear helped augment the paper’s political coverage in San Francisco and regional coverage in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties.

In 1999, he conceived of and co-authored a ground-breaking series on how law enforcement in California was failing to use DNA effectively to solve crimes. The series led to changes at the state’s Department of Justice and was emulated by media organizations around the country.

From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Goodyear served in the Chronicle’s San Francisco City Hall bureau, covering the Board of Supervisors, the Mayor’s office, land use issues and the San Francisco Municipal Railway.

He was a frequent guest on the Comcast City Desk News Hour, a local political and media roundtable, and was cited in 2006 as one of the country’s best urban issues reporters by Civic Strategies.

Prior to joining The Chronicle, Mr. Goodyear worked for The Daily Republic in Fairfield, Calif., covering development, crime and the courts.

As a senior account executive at Singer Associates, Mr. Goodyear helps clients craft their message and connect constructively with journalists. He also provides strategy and guidance to San Francisco’s unique political climate. Client work includes the San Francisco Zoo, the San Francisco Bar Pilots, AIMCO and Lennar Urban.

A fifth-generation San Franciscan, Mr. Goodyear graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
