Jason Barnett has extensive experience leading public affairs, community outreach, media relations, and crisis communications projects throughout California. His background in public affairs, government relations, and politics offers Singer Associates clients savvy, creative expertise in building support for their issues.
As a Vice President, Mr. Barnett is responsible for the daily management of projects on behalf of a diverse set of clients including Chevron, Lennar, Apartment Investment and Management Company (AIMCO), Big Lagoon Rancheria Indian Tribe, and the Salesian Brothers – among others. In this capacity, Mr. Barnett provides strategic direction to clients on issues ranging including land development, litigation support, labor relations, legislative affairs, environmental communications and community outreach. Mr. Barnett's work on behalf of the Big Lagoon Rancheria earned a Bronze Anvil Merit Award from the Northern California Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
Recently, Mr. Barnett was part of the winning campaign team for San Francisco's Proposition G which authorized the redevelopment of more than 700 acres of the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard and Candlestick Point. The development plan calls for more than 10,000 homes, 300 acres of parks, 2,000,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and a site for a new San Francisco 49ers stadium. The measure was approved by more than 60% of San Francisco voters.
Prior to joining Singer Associates, Mr. Barnett served as an Associate for Lew Edwards Group, providing critical, strategic leadership that resulted in the passage of more than $500 million in public agency finance measures during the 2004 election cycle. Mr. Barnett also designed community outreach, media relations, and grassroots organizing programs for a variety of public agency, private sector, and non-profit organizations.
From 1999-2002, he served as a Project Manager for Woodward & McDowell, providing critical, strategic leadership that resulted in the passage of four major statewide initiatives. Mr. Barnett also spent two and a half years working as a legislative aide in the Washington, D.C. office of David Obey--the ranking Democrat on the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee--where he addressed policy issues such as education, health care and the environment.
Mr. Barnett earned a Masters of Science degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from the London School of Economics. He graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
